Delphi: an alluring place of power

Sitting atop a hill and surrounded by olive groves, Delphi was a place that was considered the hub of the world by the Greeks. It held a divine importance, as they believed the god apollo dwelt there and a cult of the deity was created. People from across the mediterranean would travel to Delphi to seek out the prophecies of the delphic oracle, as well as to witness the celebrated pythian games. Even today, visitors from all around the world come to Delphi to admire the numerous architectural masterpieces that stand in the open-air museum. Everyone who has experienced it can attest to the incredible energy that radiates from the area. To truly appreciate the magnitude of Delphi, one must visit it for themselves.

Visiting the castalian spring

On an excursion to Delphi, a significant event is a visit to the castalian spring. Its holy water was believed to free pilgrims` spirits who had traveled to the temple of Apollo. Ministers and priests used it to bathe and it was also the location where musicians and poets sought motivation. Before any significant event in ancient Greece, individuals consulted with the oracle in the temple of Apollo — its remaining pillars today act as the main attraction of Delphi. Of great significance too is the athenian treasury, with its state of preservation allowing experts to restore it to its original appearance.

Delphi-a haven of ancient Greek grandeur

The Delphi complex is an ode to bygone days-a reminder of archaic Greek grandeur. It comprises three monuments, all of which are entwined with the majestic mountainous landscape: the sanctuary of Athena, the theater of Apollo, and the antique stadium where competitions were held.

Furthermore, the archaeological museum is a must-see for those visiting thise place. It is a treasure trove of relics from the ancient city.

Athens — the cradle of world culture

Athens is renowned as the birthplace of notable philosophers, and it is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Presently, it is a bustling metropolis where modernity and antiquity are intertwined. A common route in athens is to ascend to the top of the Acropolis. Here, for centuries, the most renowned symbols of Greece have been the majestic Parthenon, the temple of nike Ateros, Erechtheion, the theater of Dionysus, and the Odeon of herod atticus.

Experiencing the ancient city

No trip to athens is finished without a visit to the Panathinaikos arena. This is the site of the initial Olympic games of the modern period. Tourists can also witness the changing of the guard of the ezones at the Syntagma square. An essential part of athens is the historical areas and districts. One of the oldest, Plaka, is filled with winding alleys of historical architecture and monuments. The cultural life of athens can be found in its numerous museums, of which at least 30 are present. Among them is the New museum of the acropolis, which is remarkable in both its design and its collection.

Splendid peloponnese: dwelling of legend

Peloponnese, the birthplace of renowned greek warriors and heroes, is the area where most momentous historic events occurred, and where the nation’s chief monuments are located. Much of what visitors will observe during their travels is part of unesco’s world heritage list. The legendary Olympia is situated within peloponnese. In the temple of hera, the Olympic games were initiated with the ceremonious lighting of the fire.

Everywhere you turn: Peloponnese

The Peloponnese is a must-see for all travelers. It’s a place where you can experience monuments that you`ve heard of since you were a child. Epidaurus is an ancient city that served as a holy hospital in its day. From the prehistoric era, asclepius was adored and monumental structures were built in his honor. Offering and theatrical performances were even part of the treatment. Nowadays, the epidaurus theater is not only a historical landmark, but also a major venue for the Athens summer festival, thanks to its remarkable acoustics.

An enchanting mythical site

Mycenae is truly a magical place, and a must-visit destination while in the Peloponnese. It is a place where mythology and history come together, featuring the legendary Lion gate, tombs, Megarons and the palace of Agamemnon.

The apex of any journey to the Peloponnese is the captivating city of Nafplio. This was the first capital of the independent Greek state, a port city with a unique blend of architecture from different eras.
